Time Warner Cable has sealed a deal to carry Qatar-owned broadcaster Al Jazeera America, The New York Times reports. The deal is expected to be officially announced today. Time Warner is adding Al Jazeera in the key New York and Los Angeles markets before the end of the year and will expand to other markets by March, the report says. The channel will ultimately be available in about 54 million households. Ehab Al Shihabi, interim chief exec at Al Jazeera America told the NYT that the group is in “active negotiations†with other cable and satellite distributors. In August, the company sued AT&T for refusing to carry the channel.
