Christopher Abbott Quit Girls

“Page Six” has the report: Christopher Abbott, who plays Marnie’s pushover on-again boyfriend, Charlie, has “abruptly” quit Girls because he “didn’t like the direction things are going in.” (Translation: He didn’t like playing a sad sack.) His rep confirms the report, saying he’s “grateful” but is working on a bunch of other projects and “has decided not to return to the show.” Now seems like a good time to resurface this quote from Abbott’s season two interview with Vulture: “If there was another character I could play on the show, which I think is impossible, I think I would.” Anyway, Christopher Abbott hated the treacly Girls finale as much as you did, apparently.
