Jason Alexander Apologizes for ‘Gay’ Cricket Comment That Everyone Missed

On Friday, May 25, the man forever known as George Constanza stopped by Craig Ferguson’s Late, Late Show on CBS and promptly questioned cricket’s sexual orientation. “It’s not like a manly baseball pitch,” he said. “It’s a queer British gay pitch.” At the time, no one seemed to notice: Towleroad posted about it six days later, and Queerty caught on only when GLAAD directed them to Alexander’s remarkably lengthy apology, issued today to all the fine gentlemen accused of not being “man enough.” Our excuse for not knowing? We were busy watching Lagaan.

Welcome to the debut of Emma Watson’s American Accent. Welcome, also, to Emma Watson welcoming us to the Island of Misfit Toys, inviting us to “go be psychos together,” and doing her Rocky Horror thing in the first trailer for The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Stephen Chbosky’s adaptation of his own 1999 novel will feature angsty typewriting and loud proclamations of high school battle cries — notably the “we are infinite” sentiment, which is either about to get disowned or adopted anew by teens everywhere. But hey, Logan Lerman’s portrayal of narrator/protagonist Charlie looks to be on point, and Paul Rudd plays an English teacher.
