\u00e2\u20ac\u0153It only took 15 minutes to get home,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Ailes told TVNewser in a lengthy interview in his office Thursday. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I turn on the TV and the first thing I see is Rove saying something like \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcyou called Ohio too early.\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 And I thought, \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcWhat the? What is this?\u00e2\u20ac\u2122\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

Ailes watched as his highly-paid pundit was challenging his decision desk\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s call which would give the election to Pres. Obama.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153So I quickly called [EVP of News] Michael Clemente<\/a><\/strong> and I said, \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcMichael whatever you do, don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t go to commercial. Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t leave the screen.\u00e2\u20ac\u2122\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

Ailes instructed Clemente to have Megyn Kelly<\/a><\/strong>, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153go confront the decision team. If you have to, make the decision team confront Rove.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Confrontation is Roger Ailes\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 middle name. (Actually it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Eugene)<\/p>\n

Ailes says transparency was the key, telling Clemente, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153\u00e2\u20ac\u02dcWe can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t do anything off camera.\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 I didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t want the public or our competitors to say we somehow panicked and didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t confront the truth on camera.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153As it turned out Rove was wrong. He backed down. Our guys were right. We stayed with it. Megyn did her famous walk down the hall. And it all worked out.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

Fox News and the Obama administration already have a chilly relationship<\/a>. Last year in a news conference<\/a>, the president remarked to FNC White House correspondent Ed Henry<\/a><\/strong>, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know you where the spokesperson for Mitt Romney<\/strong>.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

So, how will the next four years play out?<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s day to day for us,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Ailes tell us. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153We don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t \u00e2\u20ac\u201d I know no one believes it \u00e2\u20ac\u201d we have no agenda. If he runs into a burning building tomorrow and saves four kids, he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s gonna be the biggest goddamn hero Fox News ever saw. But if he leaves four guys behind on the battlefield but can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t explain it, then he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s gonna have a problem with Fox News.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
