\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t be creepy\u00e2\u20ac\u009d is the new \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t be evil.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Google\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s face computer, Glass, is still only available to a small pilot program of \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Explorers\u00e2\u20ac\u009d willing to pay $1,500 for the early-adopter privilege, and already they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re getting a bum rep as pompous, inconsiderate tools. (The preferred portmanteau, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Glasshole,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/a> turns up 357,000 results on \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 Google.) And lest the negative stereotype eclipse the flashy product\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s full launch, Google has gone on the offensive this week with a list of \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Do\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s and Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ts\u00e2\u20ac\u009d that culminates in please, don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t be a Glasshole<\/i>.<\/p>\n

Don’t:<\/p>\n

Be creepy or rude (aka, a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Glasshole\u00e2\u20ac\u009d).<\/strong> Respect others and if they have questions about Glass don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t get snappy. Be polite and explain what Glass does and remember, a quick demo can go a long way. In places where cell phone cameras aren\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t allowed, the same rules will apply to Glass. If you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re asked to turn your phone off, turn Glass off as well. Breaking the rules or being rude will not get businesses excited about Glass and will ruin it for other Explorers.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Other tips include \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Ask for permission\u00e2\u20ac\u009d \u00e2\u20ac\u201d \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Standing alone in the corner of a room staring at people while recording them through Glass is not going to win you any friends\u00e2\u20ac\u009d \u00e2\u20ac\u201d and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t Glass-out,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d or get too into your Her<\/em>-style device. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153If you find yourself staring off into the prism for long periods of time you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re probably looking pretty weird to the people around you,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Google admits. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153So don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t read War and Peace<\/em> on Glass.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Or, if these things are potentially an issue for you, maybe just don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t buy Glass at all?<\/p>\n
